Pete Lipins, Nov. 12, 1959 - Dec. 6, 2016

Peteris (Pete) Lipins, 57, of Lincoln, passed on December 6, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and children in the home they built together. He excelled in school, earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics. He was a devoted husband and father, unfailingly kind, gentle, and caring, with an abundant intelligence and wit. Pete was Assistant Director for Institutional Research at the University of Nebraska. He was an active contributor to the Latvian community and an avid filmmaker. Pete’s commitment to friends and family was enduring.

Pete is survived by his devoted wife and partner of more than 35 years, Mara Zigurs; children Vilis and Ilze; mother Anta and father Janis; brothers Eriks (Amy) and Rolands (Robyn); aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
